With the addition of PF Juwan Durham, Kevin Ollie’s Huskies are looking at a very strong core to their 2016 recruiting class. Now, it sounds like Ollie might be making moves for 2017, as well.

Zach Brown is rumored to be the next domino to fall on the recruiting trail for UConn, with indications that Brown’s commitment could come as soon as next week.

Brown, a 7-1 behemoth from Miami, FL, is ranked No. 15 nationally in the class of 2017 by 247Sports composite. While he has fallen in the rankings in recent months, he is still a consensus 5-star big man, and the type of talent that UConn hasn’t landed since Andre Drummond in 2011.

A high-effort player, Brown is a major contributor on both ends of the floor, and averaged 19.3 points, 17 rebounds, and 8.8 blocks per game last season for Miami Beach Senior High School. His game is still raw in some ways, but he’s a big, powerful player who runs the floor well, and who already possesses an NBA-type body. He would be a huge coup for Ollie, and an ideal start to the 2017 recruiting class.
