#5 Corny Thompson – (1978-1982) by Meghan Bard Cornelius “Corny” Thompson was a UConn star of the late 70s and early 80s playing under Dom Perno. The Middletown native started every game as a freshman, and the Huskies made the NCAA tournament that year. Thompson led UConn in scoring and rebounding all four years, finishing with 1,810 points and more than 1,000 rebounds. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in 1982. He spent most of his pro career, which spanned14 years, in Europe. #12 Tony Robertson – (1999-2003) by Tyler Wilkinson Tony Robertson was so popular during his time at UConn that the Daily Campus published a weekly cartoon entitled “SuperTone,” where a superhuman Robertson would foil various attempts at chicanery by his arch-nemesis, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski. On the court, the under-sized guard scored 1,160 career points while spanning the gap in UConn history between the 1999 and 2004 championships.
