Poll: Who should be UConn’s next athletic director?

Our fears were realized on Wednesday when multiple sources confirmed that Warde Manuel has accepted the athletic director job at the University of Michigan.

Now, UConn is left searching for his replacement. Despite spending only a few years in Storrs, Manuel is a tough act to follow. He’s the one who hired Kevin Ollie and Bob Diaco, while also guiding the athletic department through some of its darkest years since the pre-Big East era. Because UConn  needs to join a Power 5 conference in order to remain relevant (no, dropping football and re-joining the Big East is not an option), president Susan Herbst can’t afford to strike out on this next hire.

She knows it. We know it. Jonathan knows it.

With that, we wanted to ask you: who should Herbst target? We compiled the names of the most likely contenders and added them below. For more on these candidates, check out Peter’s story from the other day. Vote away.

  1. UConn should sell off Gampel, start competitively playing parcheesi, and turn the Burton complex into a water park.
