Kevin Ollie got his second 2017 recruit on Wednesday, when DeMatha Catholic big man Josh Carlton announced on Twitter that he would be attending UConn.

Carlton is considered a developmental player, and is ranked #235 on 247sports’ composite ranking. As such, he won’t prevent Ollie from continuing to recruit other big men like Mohamed Bamba (#3) or Bourama Sidibe (#87). With three seniors and two open roster spots, look for Ollie to try to add at least another two or three players before next season. One of those players could be Carlton’s DeMatha teammate D.J. Harvey (#44), and it’s possible that Ollie’s sudden intense pursuit of Carlton is partially motivated by the desire to improve UConn’s position with Harvey.

Ollie’s top target remains Putnam Science swingman Hamidou Diallo (#10), and the Huskies continue to pursue combo guard David Beatty (#126) and versatile forward Tyler Polley (#125).

Last week, four-star point guard Makai Ashton-Langford became UConn’s first 2017 commit.
