Tony Hanson kicked off his UConn career by winning the Yankee Conference Rookie of the Year Award in 1974. He continued to improve, averaging 16.7 points and 6.5 rebounds as sophomore. As a junior, he led UConn to a Sweet 16 appearance. It is Hanson’s senior year that marks among the greatest in Husky history however. He averaged a double-double with an incredible 26 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. He shot over 52% from the field.
Hanson is currently third all-time on UConn’s scoring list, sandwiched between Richard Hamilton and Ray Allen with 1,990 career points. He is UConn’s all-time leader in made field goals.

Weston, the first freshman to start a game for the UConn basketball team (freshman had generally been ineligible for sports prior to 1972), was a diminutive guard from Cromwell, CT. In a stunning display of consistency, Weston average between 12 and 15 points all four years of his UConn career, while playing alongside fellow standouts like Tony Hanson and Joey Whelton.
