Every Monday (approx.) we will update the Big Man Power Ranking, heavily influenced by the play of the forwards and centers in the prior week’s games.
Larrier (AP)
1Terry Larrier [Last Week: 1]
Larrier averaged a double-double this week and played in 85 of 90 minutes. It’s fair to say that the Huskies likely lose both games without Larrier. But he still didn’t play that well. He shot only 32 percent from the floor and was 2-8 on threes.

Diarra (A Dime Back)
2Mamadou Diarra [4]
Mamadou Diarra, welcome to the resistance. The big man was UConn’s best NLBP by a wide margin this week. Sure he fouled out in both games, but you can’t make an omelette without fouling a few eggs. Diarra should get as many minutes as possible going forward.

Carlton
3Josh Carlton [2]
Carlton barely played against Columbia but did piece together some nice minutes against Monmouth. His defense is… a work in progress, but he maintains the most sophisticated offensive game of any non-Larrier guy on this list.

Cobb (Getty)
4Eric Cobb [3]
Cobb only played three minutes this week, but remains relatively high on this list because of his demonstrated rebounding ability. UConn needs Cobb’s ankle to heal quickly.

Polley (Stephen Slade)
5Tyler Polley [5]
Polley scored four points against Columbia but barely saw the court against Monmouth. One cool thing about Polley is that he appears to be a good free throw shooter, and he provides some length on defense that comes in handy. But the rest of Polley’s game isn’t really working right now. He really needs to stop shooting threes.

Whaley (A Dime Back)
6Isaiah Whaley [7]
Whaley played a grand total of two minutes this week as he works his way back into the lineup following wisdom teeth removal. It would’ve been entertaining to see Whaley, blasted on Percocet, mouth full of gauze, mix things up a little bit. Still, better safe than sorry.

Onuorah (AP)
7Dave Onuorah [6]
Large Dave is having trouble finding his footing in higher level basketball games. He had more fouls than rebounds this week and is the only UConn player since 2010 (at least) to play 84 minutes or more and score only two points or less.

Kwint is buried as the last man on the bench right now, but with the Coppin State game rapidly approaching, it’s almost his time to shine… by dunking a ball through the many layers of the Earth, deep into the heart of hell.
