Not the deepest team, Virginia is mostly here on the strength of Ralph Sampson, one of the greatest players in college basketball history. Stith provides a good secondary scoring option, and Polynice and Mason provide some punch off of the bench, but Sampson is the guy here. The 7-4 behemoth was rated the best player in college basketball three years in a row in the early-80s, en route to being drafted by a Houston team that would use consecutive #1 picks on centers (the other being Akeem – now Hakeem – Olajuwon).
