Greeting from Storrs, Connecticut, where the #19 UConn Huskies will take on the Terriers of Boston University — who will be seeking their first victory over a ranked time since 1959.

This game has all the makings of a trap game. BU, while nowhere near UConn’s talent level, is probably fielding its best roster in years. Their 2-0 start includes an absolute drubbing of UMass-Lowell on Wednesday, 91-65. Similar to UConn, they have returned all five starters from last season’s squad, most notably the backcourt tandem of D.J. Irving and Maurice Watson Jr.

Toss in the early weekend start and what’s sure to be a half-asleep crowd, and UConn will have to come out ready to play.

Of course, UConn has had a hot start of their own this season, and today’s game against BU will serve as their final tuneup before facing three very tough teams in their next four games (hi, Loyola).

There wasn’t much to complain about in UConn’s 101-55 beat-down of Detroit on Thursday. The Huskies’ depth was on full display, with six players scoring in double figures. Sophomore swingman Omar Calhoun leads the Huskies in scoring at 15 per game, followed by first half star Niels (last name not necessary) at 14.3 — Napier and Boatright are the others.

Fun stat: only two UConn players are shooting under 40% on the season: DeAndre Daniels and Pat Lenehan. Folk hero Tor Watts (1-1) sets a high bar.

Anyway, tip is at noon and the game can be seen on ESPNU.
