When I decided to undertake this project, LSU was not one of the teams that popped into my head as being loaded with elite talent. Whoops. The Tigers have three starters who averaged at least 30ppg for a college season, and that doesn’t include Shaquille O’Neal, the 1990-91 National Player of the Year. The bench is mostly solid, but the step down from starter to backup is pretty significant, so if anyone gets in foul trouble, they could become a lot less effective. In addition, it remains to be seen how Maravich and Jackson, two trigger happy, ball-dominant guards, can co-exist in the backcourt.

Still, given the preposterous level of talent this team showcases in both the frontcourt and the backcourt, it’s hard to imagine them not making a deep run.
