All right you wild animals, Round Two is officially over, and we’re heading into the Sweet Sixteen! In the first two rounds, you have cast almost 9,500 votes. Way to be awesome, UConn fans!
In Round Two, Ricky Moore continued his amazing upset streak, besting Wild Wes Bialosuknia. Next up, Moore faces Caron Butler, who beat Jeff Adrian in the last round. I know whom I’ll be voting for…
Unfortunately, our beloved head coach Kevin Ollie fell to the miracle man of 2011, Kemba Walker. Kemba’s got Hasheem Thabeet, who edged past Toby Kimball, in his sights next.
In the battle of the National Champ point guards, the portly point guard from Minneapolis defeated Taliek Brown. Khalid faces Chris Smith in the next round, which will make Peter’s head explode. Smith beat Jerome Dyson handily to get into the Sweet Sixteen.
Big Jake Voskuhl’s upset run ended, as he fell to our final current player. Shabizzness has a tough match-up against Ray Allen, who continued his dominance over Phil Gamble.
Our last player from the pre-Calhoun era, Art Quimby, edged past AJ Price with a measly seven votes. This may be the end of the line for old Art, though, who faces the tournament’s overall five seed, Richard Hamilton next.
Donyell Marshall beat fan favorite Slash Anderson, so no more Scream jokes. Next up Marshall faces the guy who made The Throw that led to The Shot, Scott Burrell, who beat Tony Hanson in the second round.
In a couple of tough match ups, Cliff Robinson faces off against Gentle Ben Gordon, and the Iceman Doron Sheffer is up against Emeka Okafor. My head and my heart are pulling me in different directions on that one.
In this round, you’ll notice some different narratives, as we’ll be writing point-counterpoints for every match up. Today, you’ll have the chance to vote in the Richard Hamilton v. Art Quimby and Ray Allen v. Shabazz Napier match ups. Keep the votes coming!
