Ranked: UConn Women’s Basketball Rivals

The UConn Women’s Basketball Team has a long and storied tradition of beating the absolute hell out of everyone. But despite this, the Huskies do, in fact, have some bitter rivals. Now, I will rank them.

1Notre Dame

Even if that last second shot hadn’t gone in at the end of the NCAA Semifinal this year, Notre Dame would still be at the top of this list. We hate Muffet McGraw almost as much as she hates Geno, and that is A LOT. This is the only team to beat UConn with any regularity in the 2010s, and man do I really, really hate the Irish.

2Mississippi State

If I have to watch that goddamn shot go in one more time I swear to god I’m gonna burn down the entirety of whatever backwater town that school is located in. They are still not on UConn’s level, no matter how much they want to act like they are.

3Tennessee

Our oldest blood rival, with an epic rivalry, but we haven’t actually played them in a decade and Pat Summitt’s not the coach anymore so while I still do hate them with righteous fire, they’ve fallen out of the top spot.

4Baylor

All those games against Brittney Griner would be reason enough for Baylor to make the list, but the entire athletic department is a steaming, rape-suborning pile and it should be fired directly into the sun.

5Still Rutgers

After all those nasty games against this trash school, I will never not hate C. Vivian Stringer and I don’t care how garbage Rutgers is, I will carry hate in my heart for them until the end of my days.

6Stanford

Stanford has handed UConn some of its most painful losses, but honestly, Tara Vanderveer is one of the best Xs and Os coaches out there, and I have a ton of respect for her and her team, but yeah, I’m still mad.

7South Carolina

Dawn Staley is the next great women’s basketball coach, but even when she had A’ja Wilson, she *still* couldn’t beat Geno, so I can’t hate them. Yet.

8Duke

Fuck Duke.

9Maryland

Maryland has built a solid program and they’ve given UConn some good games in the past couple seasons, so they can be on the list, but we don’t have to pay them any mind yet.

10Texas

This is a program on the rise. Karen Aston has been enticing some really impressive recruits to College Park, and they make me a little nervous. I’m watching you, Texas.

11Villanova

Villanova? I don’t know her.

12The Refs

The actual opponent in far too many games.

Not on this list are any trash ass teams from the AAC because as much as people want to pretend that a Directional Florida University is our rival, they ain’t.
