Everyone’s favorite former-UConn-player-turned-Survivor-contestant made headlines yesterday when it was reported that Cliff Robinson will be speaking at the 2016 Cannabis Collaborative Conference in Portland. Why? Because Uncle Cliffy is opening a growing operation in Oregon, where marijuana is legal, and where he played eight season with the Trailblazers.
He’s got a web site (coming soon!): www.unclespliffy.com. Uncle Spliffy, you beautiful, wonderful genius, you. Uncle Cliffy’s new business foray isn’t totally unexpected, as he received two suspensions during his playing career because he likes to smoke the weed. But it’s all on the up and up now, and we’ve got questions.
We already know the answer to at least one question: whether Uncle Spliffy thinks pot is a better alternative to prescription drugs for pain management and other issues faced by professional athletes. “Cannabis is definitely a more positive alternative to pharmaceuticals at the end of the day,” he said in the Portland Business Journal. “Those are synthetics. I’m talking about something that’s natural that can bring the outcomes you’re looking for, be it for muscle tension or relaxation or preparedness. There are a whole lot of different things that are beneficial.”
Our remaining questions:
Is one of the business partners Khalid El-Amin? If not, why not?
What does Tony Robertson think about this? How about Doug Wiggins?
You already had people calling you Uncle Spliffy, didn’t you? I’m going to believe that’s true.
Does Uncle Spliffy actually smoke spliffs? What is his stance on bongs, bowls, vaporizers or blunts?
Who is the coolest person Uncle Cliffy has smoked with? What about the weirdest? Like, has he smoked with any current or former NBA players? He’s pals with Dennis Rodman, right? That has to have been a thing.
What does Jim Calhoun think about this?
Will there be an alumni discount?
Free samples?
Will you deliver to Connecticut? (Asking for a friend…)
