UConn rebounded from a string of poor performances to soundly defeat Ohio State on Saturday afternoon. The 75-55 victory featured a balanced effort that reaffirmed UConn’s true talent level and secured a victory over a major conference opponent — albeit one in the midst of a down year.
The star for the Huskies was senior Omar Calhoun who came off the bench to score 14 points on 5-5 shooting. It was his highest point total since December 6, 2013 against Maine his sophomore year.
Calhoun was joined in double-figures by Amida Brimah, Jalen Adams, Shonn Miller and Rodney Purvis.
Adams played a career-high 29 minutes, the majority with the starters as Kevin Ollie severely shortened his bench. Often facilitating the offense, Adams was adept at beating his man off the dribble.
Sterling Gibbs again struggled to find his shot, going 2-5 from the floor and 0-2 from three, but did register five assists and play stout defense.
While the play of Calhoun was the highlight, the more important storyline may be the eight-man rotation employed by Ollie. Kentan Facey played sparingly (three minutes), and Sam Cassell, Jr. and Phil Nolan didn’t get into the game at all. Calhoun’s hot shooting made it necessary for him to get minutes, but for the first time this season, Ollie leaned on his starters and Adams to carry the team.
Predictably, it worked.
Up Next: UConn will break for finals and return to face UMass-Lowell on December 20 at 4pm. The game will be on SNY.

Official prediction: alley-oop Brimah dunk first play off the tip.
