It was not a great day for UConn fans. With point guard Isaiah Briscoe (#9 on Rivals) choosing Kentucky, forward Derrick Jones (#42) choosing UNLV, and forward Tevin Mack (#77) choosing the University of VCU(apparently), UConn loses out on three of its top targets in one day. This raises some questions about the current staff’s recruiting prowess, and stings especially hard coming off a national championship and the opening of a new, state-of-the-art. basketball-only practice facility.
The Huskies 2015 recruiting class currently consists of guard Jalen Adams (#25) and sweet-shooting power forward Steve Enoch (#60), but with at least two open scholarships, Kevin Ollie would surely like to add more pieces.
UConn’s top target remains Milwaukee C Diamond Stone (#5), expected to announce his decision on November 21st, right after the end of the fall signing period. As Stone would then be unable to sign a binding Letter Of Intent until the spring, it has been speculated that he plans to commit to UConn, but will be keeping his options open in the event that Kevin Ollie is lured to the NBA following this season.
