UConn baseball landed a cornerstone prospect on Monday when five year-old Greyson Hand signed his national letter of intent to become a Husky.
Hand does not have a primary position listed and is expected to provide versatility to the program as soon as he is eligible. In addition, head coach Jim Penders lauded Hand’s toughness as perhaps his greatest asset.
“We’re always looking for tough, brave members for our team and hearing Greyson’s story, he is that,” Penders said.
Hand is currently battling leukemia, but by the looks of it, the Husky-to-be won’t let the disease stop him any more than Kemba Walker would let Gary McGhee stop him from making a step-back jumper.
“We’re very happy to have him, he’s going to be an important member of our team for a long time,” senior Blake Davey said.
Hand, a native of Sturbridge, Mass., is expected to be eligible for the 2028 season. The Huskies’ schedule for that year will be announced at a later date.
